Racing is on the hard-packed field at Tras di Montaña, ten minutes from Kralendijk and the airport. Registration and practice on the Friday, then two full days of racing.

Equipment

Ten blokarts to rent. Bring your own sails.

Flying to the Caribbean with a kart is a big ask, so we are putting ten of our own blokarts on the line for visiting sailors.

  • Ten rental karts, first come first served. Tell us on the form if you want one.
  • Bring your own sails. The trade winds usually call for 3.0 to 4.0 m, pack for the day.
  • Sailing your own kart? Very welcome. Shipping and customs notes are coming.
  • Rental pricing will be confirmed with the entry fees.

Why Bonaire

A small island with big wind

Bonaire sits in the southern Caribbean, outside the hurricane belt, with trade winds that blow from the east almost every day of the year. It is the island that made windsurfing champions. Now it is our turn.

Reliable windEasterly trade winds, typically 15 to 20 knots through April. Racing is rarely lost for lack of breeze.
Easy to reachDirect flights from Amsterdam, Miami, Houston, Newark, Atlanta and Toronto, and short hops from Curaçao and Aruba.
Warm all weekAround 28°C, sunshine and dry. Race in shorts, then swim it off.
Somewhere to stayResorts, apartments and villas from budget to luxury, all within ten minutes of the field. Room blocks coming.

The venue

Tras di Montaña

A flat, hard-packed sports field on the edge of Kralendijk, open to the prevailing easterly. Roughly 200 by 250 metres of racing surface with room for a proper upwind and downwind course, a competitor setup area, race HQ and public viewing.

Ten minutes from the airport, ten minutes from the hotels and restaurants on the waterfront, and a short drive from the dive sites, the salt flats and the flamingos.
